Why it’s important to keep WordPress website up to date

Keeping your WordPress content management system up to date is necessary for both the performance and the security of your website. Each WordPress upgrade that becomes available keeps your website functioning as it is supposed to within the ever changing framework of the internet as well as reduces the risk of your website becoming vulnerable to hackers.

Several times a year, WordPress puts out major UPGRADES. These are different from updates which are mostly done automatically. It is not uncommon for UPGRADES to conflict with existing website files which can cause errors and performance issues on your website. If this does occur, it requires time and knowledge to rectify the issue.

NEW Yearly Maintenance Plan

Margot and I are offering our client’s a yearly maintenance plan for the convenience and peace of mind of having your website upgraded and reviewed. The cost of the yearly maintenance plan is $295/year. This includes monitoring your ‘Wordfence’ protection plugin, and insuring it is also up to date.

Terms for upgrading your own website

If you’re comfortable making these upgrades to WordPress and all related plugins and themes yourself then you are welcome to do so. We just ask that all upgrades are done on a regular basis otherwise we may need to temporarily suspend your account so as to not potentially compromise any other client sites hosted on our server.

If an error occurs when you do install any WordPress upgrades and you then require our assistance to resolve the issue, you will be charged our hourly rate. It is strongly recommended that you create a backup of your website and have knowledge of how to restore your website before any upgrades to the WordPress files are completed.

If you are not comfortable making upgrades to the WordPress system, then we strongly encourage you to take advantage of our new annual maintenance plan.
